A 2-stage route from Hornsby Service Centre covering 9.8 km in about 21 minutes through Hornsby, Waitara, Normanhurst and Thornleigh. Speeds range from 40 to 60 km/h, with the majority on 60 km/h sections along Dartford Road and Pacific Highway. This is the shortest of the three Hornsby routes but has more traffic signals (19) than the longer Route #130.

Watch Out For

• Red bus lanes on Pacific Highway. Driving in a bus lane during operating hours is an instant fail. Stay out of marked red bus lanes even if the road feels wide enough.
• School zone near Sefton Road. 40 km/h during school hours (8:00-9:30am and 2:30-4:00pm). Speed drops sharply from 60 km/h. Also watch for 25 km/h speed humps on residential streets.
• School zone on College Crescent. A second 40 km/h school zone near Normanhurst. Two school zones in one route demands constant speed awareness.
• Stop sign at Clarke Road. One of 3 stop signs on this route. Must come to a complete stop and count 3 seconds before moving off.
• Keep Clear markings. Never stop inside a Keep Clear zone, even in heavy traffic. If traffic is banked up ahead, wait behind the markings until there is room to clear the intersection.
• Unbroken double lines and painted islands. Crossing double lines or driving over painted islands are both instant-fail errors. These appear on several streets throughout the route.

• Kerbside stop near Judson Road/Brookes Street area.
• Three-point turn on a quiet residential street near Dartford Road. Check all mirrors and blind spots before each movement.
• Reverse parallel parking near Brookes Street. Pick a gap between parked cars with good visibility.

• Watch for speed signs constantly. The route transitions frequently between 40, 50 and 60 km/h, plus 25 km/h speed humps on side streets.
• Pacific Highway has heavy traffic and bus lanes. Check mirrors frequently when changing lanes or turning, and never enter red bus lanes.
• Check rear-view mirror, side mirrors and blind spots before every lane change, turn, or pulling out from the kerb. Examiners watch observation habits closely.
• Unlike Route #129, this route has no U-turn signs and fewer stop signs, making it slightly more straightforward.
