This 7.5-mile Winchester route takes around 29.5 minutes and is the only route from this centre reaching 70 mph on the Winchester Bypass. It covers Winnall, Hyde, Fulflood and West Hill, with speeds ranging from 20 mph residential zones to 70 mph dual carriageway. With 6 roundabouts and 9 sets of traffic signals, it tests a wide spread of driving skills.
Watch Out For
- Spitfire Link. Merging onto the bypass at 70 mph requires confident acceleration and mirror checks.
- Easton Lane roundabouts. Multiple roundabouts in quick succession near Winnall. Stay in the correct lane and signal when exiting.
- Stop sign on West Hill. You must come to a complete stop. Rolling through is a serious fault.
- Union Street signals. Busy junction with pedestrian crossings. Check for cyclists in the bike lane before turning.
