A 2-stage route from VTNZ Christchurch Jipcho Road covering 13.04 km in about 25 minutes. This route has the most traffic signals of any route from this centre (11) and is heavily right-biased with 17 right turns versus only 10 left turns. It passes through Wigram, Sockburn, and extends north to Avonhead via Yaldhurst Road. Uniquely, this route includes 30 km/h zones, the lowest speed limit at this centre.

Watch Out For

  • 30 km/h zones. This is the only route from this centre with 30 km/h sections (24 segments). These are likely near schools or construction areas. Missing a 30 km/h sign and driving at 50 is a serious fault.
  • 17 right turns. With a high ratio of right to left turns, you will frequently need to cross oncoming traffic. At uncontrolled intersections in NZ, left turns give way to right turns, so watch for vehicles turning left from the opposite direction.
  • 11 traffic signals (most of all routes). Many consecutive signalised intersections, especially along Blenheim Road and Main South Road. Maintain a steady approach and be prepared for red lights.
  • Bike lane on Curletts Road. Check for cyclists before turning left. Shared with routes #278, #279, and #280.
  • 4 give way intersections. The most give way points tied with Route #279. Remember the NZ give way hierarchy.
