A 15.89 km, two-stage route from the Saturn Place VTNZ centre, taking about 28 minutes through Rosedale and Albany. The longest route from this office, reaching 100 km/h on the Auckland Northern Motorway. An intensive route with 10 roundabouts, 12 traffic signals, 26 give way signs, and 95 total waypoints. Heads north to Albany via the motorway before returning through Oteha Valley Road.

Watch Out For

  • Auckland Northern Motorway (100 km/h). A brief motorway section reaching 100 km/h. Build speed smoothly on the on-ramp and merge confidently. Check mirrors and blind spot before changing lanes.
  • Oteha Valley Road give way signs. 26 give way signs total, the highest count of any Saturn Place route. Check right at every single one. Do not become complacent after several clear intersections.
  • School zone near Oteha Valley Road. One school zone at 40 km/h. Watch for the variable speed sign and slow down before entering the zone.
  • Albany Expressway speed transitions. Speed changes from 50 to 60 to 80 to 100 km/h across the route. Adjust promptly at each speed sign. Under-speeding by more than 10 km/h can result in a fail.
  • Tawa Drive roundabouts. Ten roundabouts total with 8 waypoint markers. In NZ, give way to the right and signal left when exiting.

Key Tips

  • The motorway section is the biggest challenge. Practise merging at speed and maintaining 100 km/h without drifting in your lane.
  • With 26 give way signs, develop a rhythm: slow, check right, proceed. Each one needs the same level of attention.
  • Four different speed zones (50, 60, 80, 100 km/h) mean constant speed awareness. Watch for speed signs and adjust within 3-5 seconds of passing them.
  • At 95 waypoints, this is by far the most complex Saturn Place route. Multiple full practice runs are essential before test day.
