Wiri #325 Free
A 13.1 km route taking about 28 minutes, recorded from a real restricted licence test at Wiri VTNZ. The route covers Wiri, Papatoetoe, and Manukau, with speeds ranging from 50 to 100 km/h. It includes a section on the Southwestern Motorway approach, making it one of only two Wiri routes (along with #285) that reach 100 km/h. Two roundabouts, 21 signals, and 5 pedestrian crossings provide a thorough test of all driving skills.
Watch Out For
- 5 pedestrian crossings in Papatoetoe. Clustered near the Bridge Street roundabout. Always scan footpaths and stop fully when required.
- Speed change to 100 km/h. Build up speed promptly when entering the motorway section. Driving too slowly on a 100 km/h road is marked as a critical error. But do not exceed the limit.
- Kenderdine Road and Bridge Street area. Narrow residential streets with parked cars. Reduce speed and be ready to give way to oncoming vehicles.
- Stop sign near Brett Avenue and stop sign on Wiri Station Road. Two stop signs. A full stop is required at each, not just slowing down.
- 2 roundabouts. Including one near Bridge Street. Give way to the right, signal on entry, signal left when exiting.
Route Features
- 12 left turns, 10 right turns, 2 roundabouts, 21 sets of traffic lights.
- 21 traffic signals, 12 left turns, 10 right turns, 2 roundabouts, 2 stop signs, 11 give way signs.
- Speed zones: 50 km/h residential, 60 km/h arterial (Lambie Drive, Wiri Station Road), and 100 km/h motorway approach.
- Passes through Puhinui Road in Papatoetoe, then Milan Road and Golden Arches Place before returning via Wiri Station Road.
Test Manoeuvres
- Pull over near Roscommon Road. Check mirrors, signal left, stop smoothly parallel to the kerb.
Key Tips
- This is a real test recording. The mix of 50, 60, and 100 km/h zones tests your ability to adjust speed promptly. Watch speed signs closely.
- The 5 pedestrian crossings near Bridge Street require you to scan footpaths continuously. Do not focus only on traffic.
- Compared to Route #324 (26 signals in 9 km), this route is longer but has fewer signals per km. The challenge here is the speed variety, not signal density.
