Basingstoke #344 Pro
At 10.0 miles, this is the longest Basingstoke test route, taking about 31 minutes. It covers the widest speed range of 20 to 70 mph and has 24 traffic signals, the most of any route from this centre. The route heads northeast through Brighton Hill and South View to Old Basing village, a unique destination not found on other Basingstoke routes.
Watch Out For
- Chapel Hill school zone. 20 mph zone with 6 school zones total on this route, the most of any Basingstoke route.
- Swing Swang Lane. Narrow rural section after leaving the built-up area. Watch for oncoming traffic on bends.
- Faraday Road industrial area. Heavy goods vehicles turning in and out. Give them extra space.
- Churchill Way West. Multi-lane road with frequent signal changes. Stay in the correct lane early.
- Black Dam school zone. Another 20 mph area. Speed compliance is strictly monitored by examiners.
