Birmingham (Shirley) #348 Free
A 10.7-mile, single-stage route from Birmingham (Shirley) DVSA test centre, heading south through Dickens Heath, Cheswick Green, Earlswood and Hollywood before looping back via Major's Green. At 36 minutes, this is one of the longer routes from Shirley. It mixes 40 mph national speed limit rural lanes with 30 mph residential streets and some 20 mph zones.
Watch Out For
- 20 mph school zone near Stratford Road. Easy to miss when transitioning from 30 mph residential streets.
- Two school zones near Fulford Hall Road. 20 mph limit. These are close together near Tidbury Green.
- Speed transitions between 30 and 40 mph. Lady Lane and Cleobury Lane are 40 mph national speed limit lanes. You must reach close to the limit without exceeding it.
- Give way near Dickens Heath Road. Check right before entering.
- Narrow rural lanes. Cleobury Lane and Lady Lane may have oncoming traffic on single-width sections. Be ready to give way where appropriate.
