Bishops Stortford #372 Free
A 15.5 km single-stage route with 10 roundabouts (tied for most with Route #363) and 10 traffic signals, taking about 31 minutes through Hockerill and Birchanger. Maximum speed is 60 mph. The route loops east through Linkside Road and northeast to the Bypass, then returns through the town centre via Bells Hill.
Watch Out For
- 10 roundabouts. Tied for the most at this centre. They appear throughout the route, requiring consistent signalling and lane discipline.
- Bishop's Stortford Bypass (60 mph). The route briefly joins the Bypass. Accelerate confidently and merge safely.
- Beldams Lane to Linkside Road. Residential area east of town. Streets narrow with limited visibility. Speed should be well below 30 mph where parked cars obstruct the view.
- Haymeads Lane. 40 mph road connecting residential areas to the Bypass approach. Watch for the speed limit change.
- Parsonage Lane. Used on the return from the Bypass. Speed transitions from 60 mph down to 30 mph residential.
