At just 7.7 km, this is the shortest Goodmayes test route. It heads east from the test centre through Green Lane to Bennett's Castle Lane, then south via Valence Avenue and Beverley Road to St Georges Road. The return runs through Wood Lane and Longbridge Road, then north on Goodmayes Lane. A simple, low-speed suburban loop.

Watch Out For

Eight right turns on a short route mean frequent crossing of oncoming traffic. Wood Lane and Beverley Road have heavy on-street parking that narrows the road significantly. One give way at Porters Avenue junction and one roundabout at the same location. St Georges Road has a tight turn with limited visibility.

Route Features

One roundabout, seven traffic signals. Almost entirely 30 mph with a short 20 mph stretch. Five left turns and eight right turns. Valence Avenue is a wide, straight residential road. Becontree Avenue connects the northern and southern sections through the Becontree estate grid.

This short route gives little time to settle in, so focus from the start. With eight right turns, practise confident gap selection at junctions.
