At 17.7 km, this is the longest Barnet test route. It heads south through Oakleigh Road North to Whetstone, then east via Russell Lane and north through Church Hill Road in East Barnet. The route returns west through Cat Hill, up Barnet Hill to St Albans Road, then north to Dancers Hill Road and Kitts End Road before returning via Hadley Highstone.

Watch Out For

A stop sign at Cat Hill junction - you must come to a complete stop. Four roundabouts including busy ones at Russell Lane and Cat Hill. Four school zones across the route, particularly near Russell Lane and East Barnet. Ten give way junctions - the most of any Barnet route.

Fifteen traffic signals, ten left turns, seven right turns, and four roundabouts make this the most complex Barnet route. A bike lane near Oakleigh Road narrows the carriageway. Speed limits range from 20 mph to 60 mph with frequent changes between zones.

Key Tips

Pace yourself on this long route. With 39 minutes driving time, fatigue and concentration lapses are the biggest risks. Practise the Cat Hill stop sign until the full stop becomes automatic. At each roundabout, check right and give way to traffic already on the roundabout.
