Cheltenham #804 Free
A 14.3 km route from Cheltenham DVSA Test Centre taking about 32 minutes. This route has the most roundabouts of any Cheltenham route at 8, heading west through Pittville and St Paul's toward Tewkesbury Road, then north to Swindon village via Wymans Lane. Five of the roundabouts are clustered around the Swindon Road junction. This is the only Cheltenham route that heads significantly west, giving it a distinctly different character from the predominantly north-east routes.
Watch Out For
- Swindon Road roundabout cluster. Five roundabouts in rapid succession. Choose lanes early and signal clearly.
- Speed change on Hyde Lane. Drops to 40 mph approaching Swindon village.
- Pedestrian crossing on Tewkesbury Road. Near the Kingsditch retail area. Watch for shoppers crossing.
- Second pedestrian crossing on Tewkesbury Road. Close to the first. Remain alert for pedestrians.
- Townsend Street area. Narrow streets in St Paul's with parked cars on both sides. Check mirrors before proceeding.

Key Tips
- With 8 roundabouts, practise your roundabout approach: check mirrors, signal direction, choose the correct lane, and signal left when exiting. The Swindon Road roundabouts are particularly demanding.
- The St Paul's Road and Folly Lane section has tight residential streets. Slow down and give parked cars a wide berth.
