This 12.8 km route from Stevenage loops through the eastern districts. Starting on High Street in Old Town, it heads east on Fairlands Way and Lonsdale Road to Pin Green. The route continues through Meredith Road and Vardon Road, then east on Fairlands Way to Chells Manor via Gresley Way. It loops south through Cromwell Road and Shephall on Cromwell Road, returning via Abbots Grove and Fairlands Way to Old Town.
Watch Out For
Ten roundabouts keep the route busy with junction skills. The Gresley Way and Six Hills Way junction is a fast 40 mph roundabout with multiple exits. Cromwell Road and Collenswood Road in the eastern estates have tight turns and residential parking. Five traffic lights are mainly at the Fairlands Way junctions near the town centre.

A balanced route with 30 mph residential streets and 40 mph distributor roads nearly equal in proportion. The Pin Green area around Archer Road and Meredith Road is a 1960s new town estate with angular road layouts. Chells Manor on Gresley Way is a newer development. Shephall View and Abbots Grove provide quieter residential driving near the route's southern point.
Key Tips
On Lonsdale Road, maintain 30 mph through the residential section and watch for pedestrians. At the Gresley Way roundabout, follow the lane markings for your exit as traffic approaches from multiple directions. Through Cromwell Road, the road narrows with on-street parking so adjust your speed accordingly. On the return via Fairlands Way, maintain 40 mph between the roundabouts and signal in good time.
