The longest Worcester test route at 11.5 miles, taking about 36 minutes. The route heads west through Blackpole to the city centre via Lowesmoor, then south to Red Hill and back through Rainbow Hill and Barbourne. It continues north along Ombersley Road to Claines, then onto the A449 dual carriageway reaching 70 mph through Fernhill Heath before returning via Hurst Lane and Blackpole Road. This is the only Worcester route with a 70 mph section.

Watch Out For

  • City Walls Road. One-way system in the city centre with multiple lanes. Lane positioning is critical. The examiner may ask you to follow signs to a destination here.
  • Midland Road / London Road area. Transition from city centre to the Red Hill area. Speed limit drops from 30 to 20 mph near schools. Traffic calming measures include speed bumps.
  • A449 Ombersley Road. Dual carriageway reaching 70 mph. You must build speed promptly when the limit increases. Driving 50 in a 70 zone is a serious fault.
  • Lowesmoor. Narrow urban road near the bus station with frequent bus traffic. Buses pull out without warning. Keep checking mirrors and be prepared to stop.
