A single-stage route from Bletchley DVSA Test Centre on Wilton Avenue, covering 11.9 miles in about 29 minutes. The route heads north along V7 Saxon Street through multiple Milton Keynes grid squares to Central Milton Keynes, then west along Midsummer Boulevard and H5 Portway before joining the A5 dual carriageway southbound at 70 mph. It returns via V6 Grafton Street, H8 Standing Way, and Whaddon Way through West Bletchley. This is the longest Bletchley route and reaches the highest speed.

Watch Out For

  • H5 Portway / A5 junction. Merging onto the A5 at 70 mph. This dual carriageway carries fast-moving traffic. You must reach 70 mph promptly. Hesitating on the slip road is a serious fault.
  • V7 Saxon Gate (Central MK). Multi-lane road through the city centre. Lane changes are required for roundabouts. Get into the correct lane early by following road markings.
  • Denbigh Hall Drive. Residential road with a school zone (20 mph). Speed drops from 30 mph suddenly. The school zone is easy to miss if you are still adjusting from the bypass.
  • V4 Watling Street roundabout. Large roundabout at the junction of two major roads. Multiple lanes and heavy traffic. Lane discipline and early signalling are essential.

  • Milton Keynes grid roads all look similar. Pay attention to road signs rather than relying on visual cues. The examiner may test your ability to follow satnav instructions through the grid system.
  • The A5 section is the fastest part. After 30 mph grid roads, the sudden jump to 70 mph requires confidence. Practise this transition at least once before your test.
