Frankston #179 Pro
A compact 8.6 km single-stage route taking about 18 minutes through Seaford and Frankston North. One of only two single-stage routes at Frankston (with #112), it packs 5 roundabouts, 4 traffic signals, and 6 school zones into a short distance. Speed limits range from 50 to 80 km/h, with a right-turn bias of 13 right turns versus 11 left.
Watch Out For
- School zones near Monterey Boulevard. Part of 6 school zones on this route. 40 km/h during school hours.
- School zones around central Seaford. Multiple school zones near Henry Crescent and Centenary Street.
- 13 right turns in 8.6 km. High density of right turns for a short route. Each crosses oncoming traffic and requires precise gap judgement.
- Frankston-Dandenong Road (80 km/h). Brief 80 km/h section requiring prompt acceleration.
- 5 roundabouts. More than Route #112 (the other single-stage route, which has 4). Correct VIC signalling is critical at each one.

- 5 roundabouts, including near Hartnett Drive. In VIC, signal direction on entry and left when exiting.
- 4 traffic signals, fewer than the westbound routes (8 each) but more than the signal-free group.

Key Tips
- Compared to Route #112 (the other single-stage route), this route has more roundabouts (5 vs 4), more signals (4 vs 1), and 6 school zones (vs 0). It is significantly more demanding despite similar length.
- The Lorna Street to Bruce Street residential grid is shared with Routes #21, #112, and #175. This is the most-practised area in Frankston.
- No break during the test. With 6 school zones and 13 right turns in 18 minutes, this route demands sustained focus from start to finish.
